InfoSAWIT, MOROWALI UTARA – After having struggling for many years, Koperasi Konsumen Petani Sawit Lembo Jaya eventually got agreement with PT. Kirana Sinar Gemilang, plasma company operator in Lembo Raya. It is hoped, hundred members would get better economy after conducting annual member meeting in Village of Kumpi, Sub district of Lembo, last Friday.
The meeting was the moment for 434 members of Koperasi Konsumen Petani Sawit Lembo Jaya in three villages - Po'ona, Kumpi, and Uluanso. They own indigenous land where the plantation company operates.
In he meeting, Chairman of the cooperation, Guslan Tomboelu mentioned the annual report that reflected the hard work of cooperation coordinators to escalate the members’ welfare.
One significant thing announced in the meeting was the changes from bailout system to be profit sharing for plasma smallholders. Since October 2023, the members of the cooperation got profit sharing about Rp 500.000 per hectare. The numbers substituted the previous compensation which was Rp 70.000 in the form of debt. The agreement opens new chapter for the cooperation and proved that PT Kirana Sinar Gemilang is committed to welfare plasma smallholders.
Profit sharing for plasma smallholders also got changes. If in other place, the division would be 80 percent for the company and 20 percent for plasma ones, in Lembo Raya, the division would be 65 percent for the company and 35 percent for plasma smallholders. This would deliver bigger profits for the members of the cooperation.
Not only that, cooperation coordinators would focus to deliver other constructive initiatives. They would struggle to get, such as, fresh fruit bunch (FFB) transportation for plasma, take advantage on corporate social responsibility, and helps from District of Morowali Utara.
"We would lead Village of Uluanso as palm oil seed development center. Po'ona would be the center of laying hens, and Kumpi would be the center of sewing for workers in the company,” Guslan said, as InfoSAWIT quoted from Media Center Delis and Djira (MCDD).
Secretary of Micro, Small, and Medium Businesses and Cooperation, Industry and Trade Agency District of Morowali Utara, Yarid F. Marande did welcome the progressive thing that the company has done. He said that Koperasi Konsumen Petani Sawit Lembo Jaya is one of the best cooperation in the district.
Besides getting significant agreement in the meeting, the cooperation also showed its social responsibility to conduct blood donor. The workers in the company and members of the cooperation worked together to show they care about the people around. (T2)
