Riau Encouraged Palm Oil Profit Sharing to Improve Infrastructures

InfoSAWIT, PEKANBARU – Riau Province finally got palm oil profit sharing from the central government that reached Rp 83,13 billion from Rp 3,4 trillion in total. The numbers would be distributed from September to December 2023. Riau got the biggest numbers, then North Sumatera that reached Rp 74,86 billion, and West Kalimantan about Rp 65,66 billion.

The distribution of palm oil profit sharing is regulated by the Government’s Regulation Number 38 / 2023 about Palm Oil Profit Sharing (POPS). According to the regulation, 20 percent of the total POPS would be delivered for the province. 60 percent would be distributed to district/city where palm oil plantations develop and 20% (the rests) would be distributed to the district/city where it is directly in border with city/district where palm oil plantations develop.

Governor of Riau, Syamsuar in a meeting told that it is very important to take advantages on the fund to improve infrastructures particularly the ways in each region. “The money (palm oil profit sharing) should be used to improve ways in provinces and around palm oil plantations in each region,” he said to every head of region in Riau Province, as InfoSAWIT quoted from the official page of Riau Province, Friday (3/11/2023).

Though the numbers that Riau got are not equal to palm oil production potential in the province as the biggest producer in Indonesia, Governor Syamsuar would work hard to struggle for by hoping to get more POPS in the province.

“Though the numbers are not fixed enough, Alhamdulillah, we have to get them first. Insya Allah, we would struggle for with other palm oil provinces so that in the future, there would be more to get than what we got and would be adjustable as the allocation,” Governor Syamsuar said. (T2)
