
InfoSAWIT, PEKANBARU –Regional office of National Land Agency (NLA) Riau Province did launching of Smallholders Participative Map Pilot Project in Riau on Wednesday, 11 October 2023 in Hotel Pangeran Pekanbaru, Riau. It was part of cooperation between Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial/National Land Agency and Serikat Petani Kelapa Sawit (SPKS) to get smallholders’ participative map so that the smallholders would have area certificate.
The launching was attended by Secretary of General Director of Land and Spatial Map and Survey Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial/NLA, Fitriani boru Hasibuan; Head of Plantation Agency Riau Province, Zulfadli that represented Governor of Riau; Vice Regent of Siak, Husni Merza; Chief Office Riau NLA, Asnawati; other leaders; members of SPKS in Riau; heads of villages in the location projects, such as, Village of Sungai Gondang, Village of Libo Jaya, Village of Telaga Sam Sam, Village of Belutu, Village of Belakar, Village of Samsam, Village of Pencing Bekulo.
In the launching, Office Chief of NLA District of Siak, Tarbarita Simorangkir, Chairman of SPKS, Sabarudin signed memorandum of understanding and witnessed by Zulfadli, Husni Merza, and Asnawati.
The goal is about to map smallholders’ palm oil plantations to publish legal documents (land certificate). It is hoped it could accelerate to get smallholders’ data and deliver area documents on their (palm oil) plantations or areas.
Chairman of SPKS, Sabarudin said that independent smallholders’ data is urgent to get because there is no complete one.
“This is not a new agenda but a must for the regional governments and other related instances in regional action plan sustainable palm oil, which the governments (in each level) should do,” he said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Thursday, (12/10/2023).
Chief of NLA Riau, Asnawati said that the goal of the launching is about to escalate palm oil plantation productivity and also welfare the people particularly the smallholders in Riau PRovine.
In addition, Riau is the biggest palm oil producer in Indonesia by its contribution about 21,47% of the total production nationally. “It means, one fourth of palm oil production derived from Riau,” she said.
She thought, smallholders participative map in the province is important to get reference to publish every policy when getting physical data for next years. “That is why the output to get is about area map” she said.
Secretary of General Director of Spatial and Land Map and Survey Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial/NLA, Fitriani Hasibuan said that the ministry is urged to get area registration in many regions in Indonesia. It has been running since 2018 massively. In 2025 it is hoped that every area in this country would be mapped. It is predicted there would be 126 million parts. “One thing to realize it is by having smallholders participative map in Riau Province,” boru Hasibuan said.
She also hoped that every related instance and stakeholders should succeed the program to be developed more. “I do hope that this would be the promotor that having people’s participative map,” she said. (T2)
