InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – IV Vice Director in Research, Innovation, Cooperation, Alumni of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Bambang Pramujati, S.T., M.Sc. Eng, Ph.D., told that 2023 would be a historical year for the university in research and development about palm oil plantations in Indonesia. GRS 2023 is an annual event to get because it successfully invited many researchers from institutions to contribute and escalate palm oil industrial productivity, efficiency, and sustainability.

He who is also the lecturer in Machine Engineering Department ITS told that the university showed its commitment to develop previous research that won fund from the program. In 2023 ITS proved its commitment by getting superior research fund in three different sectors, such as, cultivation, land or seeds, and post - harvest or industry.

Research fund allocation would cover investment in research supporting tools which might be needed. The fund would be available from September 2023 to September 2025 by putting the fund aside to support institutional operation in a whole. “The fund would be allocated according to research and institutional needs, create opportunities to get better progress in research world in ITS itself,” he said, as InfoSAWIT quoted from the official page of ITS, Saturday (30/9/2023).

On the other hand, Director of Research and Service for the Society, ITS, Fadlilatul Taufany, S.T., Ph. D., emphasized that in research context, the researchers should confirm many significant fulfillments. The comprehensive research report should cover many aspects, such as, social or product engineering that should be applied, government’s policy recommendation, prospective scientific findings, and sustainable research.

Every aspect would play crucial roles to develop palm oil industries nationally, starting from the upstream to downstream sectors. Taufany also hoped the researchers should accomplish their research by delivering outputs as they promised. “We would fully support this sector to develop,” he said.

ITS involves not only to propose (palm oil research) but also develop researchers with whole dedication through many activities, such as, workshop, session to share experiences in arranging proposals. The presence of steering committee in GRS 2023, such as, Prof. Dr. Ir. Didiek Hadjar Goenadi, M.Sc. APU, also delivered additional supports to succeed the research projects. (T2)
