Indonesia Commits to Solve Agenda of Sustainability to Solve Climate Crisis

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Before many delegations that attended Indonesia Sustainability Forum, Coordinator Minister in Maritime and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan re-emphasized the commitment of Indonesia to solve sustainability agenda.

Pandjaitan thought, as many have known, Indonesia is committed to realize net zero in 2060 but in decarbonization era and partnership experiences, he realized that every country has different (perspective). That is why we have to cooperate according to mutual respect and trust one to another.

“As a country that has significant economy and geopolitics in the world with gross domestic product for more than US$ 1 trillioin and 280 citizens, Indonesia has the good position to reinforce partnership in the globe,” he said, as InfoSAWIT quoted from the official facebook of Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Thursday (7/9/2023).

He continued that Indonesia has also natural biodiversity, such as, 94 million hectares of tropical forests, more than 3.600 Gigawatt of potential renewable energy, and abundant mineral resources to get new renewable energy transition.

He hoped that the dialogue in Indonesia Sustainability Forum would get sustainable solution that enable developing countries to keep developing as same as their ways to get industrialization.

“Let’s do something as soon as possible. Not only sitting still or talking but also delivering real action to the future better sustainability in the world for our grandchildren,” Pandjaitan said.

The climate crisis would be a concern for it will deliver impacts to food security, development in many villages, and poverty in many countries. That is why it needs concrete things, big scale collaboration to get the same solution. This is a need.

“Indonesia Sustainability Forum is about to formulate sustainability strategies that we need to save the future generation from the destructive climate change,” he said, (T2)
