The Protest of Villagers of Huristak: ANJ Mentioned There is no Obligation but would do Independent Partnership

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The subsidiary of PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk., in Padang Lawas, North Sumatera Province, PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Agri (ANJA) was protested by the villagers of Huristak to Komisi Pengawas Persaingan Usaha (KPPU) Region I Northern Sumatera for the company does not implement 20% partnership to the villagers where the plantation company operates.

Knowing the protest, Government Relations and External Affairs Region I, ANJ, Nurwachid A Jaenudin said, the company always obeys every available regulation and fulfill the obligation based on the available laws.

That is why palm oil plantations that PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Agri is cultivating, has got permit from the government, according to Plantation Business Permit and Business Rights which were published in 2007.

“Based on the regulation at the time, PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Agri has no obligation to do (plasma) partnership as it is regulated in nowadays regulations,” he said to InfoSAWIT, Friday (24/3/2023).

Nurwachid also mentioned, the company would do partnership with the villagers with the conditions, the partnership would be for the villagers that have areas outside of company’s Business Rights and around the company’s plantations.

“Their areas to be in corporation should not be forest areas,” he said. (T2)
