10 Big Powers of Holding Perkebunan Nusantara

InfoSAWIT, Jakarta – People responded to what Minister of Enterprises planned – to establish Perkebunan Nusantara Holding. Many supported the action of the government’s company.

What InfoSAWIT got about the existence of Perkebunan Nusantara in many regions in Indonesia, palm oil plantation sectors belonging to PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) have many advantages. Here they are:

The first, PT Perkebunan Nusantara has superiority in palm oil seed research ever since the Colonialism era. Kebun Avros and Kebun Marihat were joint to be Pusat Penelitian Kelapa Sawit (PPKS). This is the big power for Perkebunan Nusantara to produce high productivity which derived from the cross of superior seeds - Dura, Pisifera, and Tenera.

The second, not only having superior seed research, PPKS is also one holistic research institution. Many palm oil experts were from PPKS and they now work in many private plantation companies. Agronomy, soil, fertilizers, and diseases in palm oil plantations keep being researched by the researchers in PPKS.

the third, palm oil plantations managed and cultivated by Perkebunan Nusantara laid about more than 700 thousand hectares in Indonesia. Though the plan would lay for 600 thousand hectares, Perkebunan Nusantara keeps consolidating to the government’s asset governance. In 2030 the ambitious target is that to join every asset of Perkebunan Nusantara Holding.

The fourth, Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone in North Sumatera Province would become the focus to develop palm oil downstream industries which have been running since the early of 2000s. The goal is about to process palm oil products, such as, CPO to be high value derivative products. Some business cooperation run with multi-national scale companies, such as, Unilever to develop downstream products within the main renewable and environmental advantages.

The fifth, Perkebunan Nusantara has its future big vision in supply chain management in technology – base. CPO as the raw material should be developed in integrated business to be many superior mainstay products.

The sixth, Perkebunan Nusantara keeps improving the best and sustainable practice. Until now the company got many certificates, such as, Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO), Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), and International Sustainable Carbon Certificate (ISCC).

The seventh, governance improvement by Perkebunan Nusantara leads to good corporate government (GCG). It would be led by Holding within one stop service system while the subsidiaries are led by chief operating officer (COO). This would lead to get efficient bureaucracy in the company to be more effective and efficient in cutting the managements’ salary.

The eighth, the net profits of Perkebunan Nusantara keep increasing for years. In 2021, Perkebunan Nusantara go net profits up to Rp. 4,64 trillion. The next year in 2022, the net profits of the company increased almost 20% or about Rp. 5,51 trillion.

The Nine, the sources of income in Perkebunan Nusantara derived from plantation productivity which reached 3,6% in average. The biggest CPO yield reached 5,6 tons per hectare per year.

The Ten, fresh fruit bunch (FFB) production in 2021 reached 11,5 million tons, within the yield reaching 21%, produced 2,4 million tons of CPO. In 2022, FFB production increased 3,4% to be 12 million tons within 3,4 million tons of CPO.

Director Holding Perkebunan Nusantara, Dwi Suntoro said, palm oil business of the government’s company would be better in the future. “We keep improving and being more efficient to get big profits for the country,” he emphasized. (T2)
