InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – To realize energy security and independency which is equal and fair, the Government of Indonesia is committed to encourage the use of renewable energy, such as, implementing biodiesel mandatory program since 2014. Biodiesel is vegetable fuel oil mixture to diesel.
For the fast seven years, biodiesel mixture keeps increasing from 15% (B15) in 2015, 20% (B20) in 2016, and 30% (B30) in 2020. As the real commitment, the government accelerated inclusive and sustainable energy transition since 1 February 2023 and the mixture would be increasing to be 35% (B35).
“This day we increased biodiesel mandatory mixture as the diesel substitution and would lead Indonesia within environmental energy,” Coordinator Minister in Economy, Airlangga Hartarto said when delivering his keynote speech at Talkshow Energy Corner Special: Implementasi Mandatori Biodiesel B35, Tuesday (31/1/2023) at Graha Sawala, the office of Coordinator Ministry in Economy.
B35 would absorb about 13,15 million kiloliters of biodiesel for domestic industries. It is predicted the program would save the exchange up to US$ 10.75 billion and escalate the additional values of downstream industries for about Rp 16,76 trillion. B35 would also reduce green-house gas emission for about 34,9 million tons of CO2.
“The government encouraged Enterprises, such as, PT. Pertamina and PT PLN to apply more sustainable product and encouraged to be key performance indicator from every direction that runs energy sectors,” he said. (T2)
