InfoSAWIT, KUALA LUMPUR – Crude palm oil (CPO) production in Malaysia in Malaysia in January to August 2022 reached about 11,56 million tons or decreased about 400 thousand tons compared to last year production which reached 11,60 million tons in the same period.
Chairman of Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC), Wan Aishah said it needs anticipation to get CPO production in Malaysia to be 18,5 million tons in 2022. “That is why CPO target production in Malaysia needs correction to be only 18,3 million tons,” Wan Aishah said in her speech at International Palm Oil Sustainability Conference (IPOSC) 2022, Tuesday (13/9), as quoted from The Edge Mareket.
Wan Aisha also mentioned palm oil industries keep facing sustainability issue since the last few decades, starting from the allegation of deforestation, the reduction of wild in danger, and also global warming, biofuel sustainability in palm oil base, and work labors.
Of the challenges, for palm oil industries, the publication of climate change and deforestation international regulation would be the potential to get trade barriers.
The regulation is the outcome from the countries that are trying to minimize the bad impact of the climate change by vanishing carbon to limit global warming and realize neutral carbon or zero carbon in 2050. (T2)
