CPO Price in Indonesia Was More Expensive than it in Malaysia in August 2022

InfoSAWIT, KUALA LUMPUR – According to CGS-CIMB Research, crude palm oil (CPO) price in Indonesia was more expensive than it in Malaysia in August 2022.

What the Government of Indonesia published to regulate CPO export delivered profits for the stakeholders. CPO price in Indonesia increased 14% or from Rp 10.025 per kg (RM 2.982 per ton) on 31 July to be Rp 11.433 per kg (RM 3.444 per ton) on 31 August.

Malaysia palm oil producers got the negative impact because CPO spot price in the country decreased 4% to be RM 4.098 per ton in the same period, as CGS-CIMB Research reported.

“We predict, CPO price in September would hit the level though the stocks could be increasing. This happens for the high discount between RBD Palm Oil distribution from Malaysia and soyoil from Argentina,” the institution mentioned.

The report also mentioned, the gap got wider to be US$ 358 (RM1.608,14) per ton on 1 September 2022 versus US$ 90 (RM 404.28) per ton in average in five years until 2021.

“This would make demand friction to palm oil in many importer countries to reduce the stock, as what we predict,” CGS-CIMB Research reported, as quoted from The Star. (T2)
