InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Palm oil plantation company, Astra Agro Lestari showed its commitment to implement sustainability principles. In the G20 Parallel Event in Nusa Dua Bali on 30 August. The Astra Group - company signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with PT Pertamina.
Director of PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk, M. Hadi Sugeng said, Astra Agro commits to support the program of climate change prevention and decarbonation that the Government of Indonesia proposed to get the target of emission reduction as same as Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) in Indonesia.
For information, one of sustainability programs in Astra Agro, as Hadi thought, is the commitment to implement many things to get green - house gas emission reduction in the business process.
To get the target of decarbonation, Astra Agro Lestari and PT Pertamina are in cooperation to develop low emission project within the utilization of empty fruit bunch and palm oil mill effluent to be bioethanol dan biomethane products which could be taken for advantage as the substitution of fossil fuel and support energy independence nationally.
“We hope the MoU could deliver comprehensive study result about bioethanol development from palm oil empty fruit bunch (EFB) and biomethane from palm oil mill effluent,” Hadi Sugeng said after singing the MoU. (T2)
