InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The implementation of Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certification is voluntary because it came up for the needs of sustainable palm oil to encourage sustainability in palm oil plantations where the production should not damage the environment.
Deputy Director of Market Transformation (Indonesia) RSPO, M. Windrawan Inantha said, of 5.312 members of RSPO, the total volume of crude palm oil (CPO) just reached 19%. “The certified plantations reached 4,6 million hectares,” Windrawan said, as quoted from Antara.
He also mentioned, 19 percent whole over the world is from Indonesia because Indonesia is the biggest palm oil producer in the world.
Windrawan admitted, sustainable palm oil industries in Indonesia develop well enough namely after the publication of President’s Instruction Number 6 / 2019 about Rencana Aksi Nasional Kelapa Sawit Berkelanjutan (RAN-KSB) in 2019-2024.
"The president’s instruction ordered to the related ministries/institutions that deal with palm oil industries to get some works done. This is very powerful,” he said. (T2)
