InfoSAWIT,JAKARTA – Palm oil plantation companies as the members of Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA) are committed to realize sustainable palm oil industries in this country.
This is known from many IPOA members have been certified and got Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certificates. Head of Sustainability Division, IPOA, Bambang Dwi Laksono told, according to data in IPOA, 560 of 718 members of IPOA got ISPO certificates. “Or 78 percent are certified by ISPO," he said in the webinar release in Jakarta, recently.
Bambang also mentioned, sustainable palm oil industries could be one implementation of vision and mission in IPOA. That is why IPOA would always coordinate with its 14 branches in Indonesia to encourage, consult, get the alternative solutions about ISPO implementation in many companies. “By hoping that there would be much more companies – the members of IPOA getting ISPO certificates,” he said.
Bambang also told, there are several sustainable certificates in palm oil sectors in Indonesia, such as, ISPO, Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil, and International Sustainability and Carbon Certificate. ISPO is mandatory which means, like or dislike, it has to be implemented as the realization of the regulation in Indonesia. (T2)
