Independent Smallholders in Aceh Claimed to Ease SRP

InfoSAWIT, IDI RAYEUK – For it is very slow to do, the independent smallholders where their plantations should have smallholders replanting program (SRP) are reluctant to get the program because the proposals to get it are very complex.

In fact, they are interested in joining the program which was proposed since 2017 by President Joko Widodo. “We are confused to deal with SRP because it seems to take a very long time,” Chairman of Asosiasi Petani Kelapa Sawit Indonesia (Apkasindo) District of East Aceh, Ibrahim Mar said to InfoSAWIT, Thursday (25/8/2022).

In Aceh, the smallholders whose plantations did SRP covered about 1.600 hectares (ha) only since 2017. Ibrahim Mar thought, the smallholders in Apkasindo East Aceh who joined cooperation, groups, eventually are not interested to follow up SRP proposals.

They discussed it with the leaders of Apkasindo in sub district levels. The former secretary of Plantation Agency District of East Aceh told, every issue in SRP raised because the complexity of administration in regional level.

He told some examples, Cultivation Documents. In East Aceh, Cultivation Documents should be published by One Stop Service. As long as Ibrahim knows in many regions, Cultivation Documents should be published by Plantation Agency. The smallholders are reluctant to get every permit.

In addition, their houses or plantations to Idi Rayeuk, the capital of East Aceh is about 60 kilometers. Of course, this would take extra time and costs for the smallholders. “Imagine how tired they are to get one permit. They have to go and forth from their hometown to the capital city which is very far,” Ibrahim Mar said. (T5)
