In the 5th Borneo Forum, Airlangga Took the Regents to Support Palm Oil

InfoSAWIT, PALANGKARAYA – Coordinator Minister in Economy, Airlangga Hartato asked for the heads of regions to support sustainable palm oil sectors in their regions. The contribution of agricultural sectors to the economy has something to do with palm oil sub sector,

“The good palm oil exports should be encouraged because it is expensive in the global level,” he said in his online speech at the 5th Borneo Forum in Pakangkaraya, Central Kalimantan, Wednesday (24/8/2022).

To increase the higher additional value in palm oil sectors, Airlangga continued, it needs to develop downstream sectors in order not to focus to export the raw material only but also end products which have higher values.

“Of course, palm oil sectors should be developed by the sustainability aspect to be environmental and as same as SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). We have to do it by getting Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certification, Rencana Aksi Nasional Kelapa Sawit Berkalanjutan (RAN KSB), and continue smallholders’ replanting program,” he said.

He also suggested that heads of regions should supervise palm oil industries and deliver legal enforcement, help them to solve every issue both about the areas and the people.

In his speech, Chairman of the 5th Borneo Forum, Rizky Djaya said, by having palm oil industries in the regions and contributing in national scale, the regional governments should support the investment and help fight for the negative campaigns to be always sustainable.

For Undang Undang Hubungan Keuangan antara Pemerintah Pusat dan Pemerintah Daerah (HKPD) has been officially announced about profit sharing from palm oil, the stakeholders and the smallholders would support it. “This would welfare the regions where palm oil develops. In this case, we are still waiting for the district regulation from HKPD,” Rizky said. (T2)
