Surplus Trade Balance Continues: Ministry of Trade is Optimist to Get Positive Economy Nationally

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Everything done to mobilize the economy nationally in trade sector is paid off. Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan told, trade balance surplus happened in July 2022 that reached US$ 4,23 billion. This was the continuous surplus since May 2022. The economic progress gets more positive nationally.

“July 2022 surplus trade reached US$ 4,23 billion. The numbers derived from non-oil and gas surplus trade that reached US$ 7,31 billion, while oil and gas trade got deficit about US$ 3,08 billion. July 2022 surplus trade continued the surplus in May 2022 or precisely in the past 26 months,” he said.

Zulkifli Hasan also mentioned, in cumulative in January–July 2022 the surplus reached US$ 29,17 billion. It happened for non-oil and gas sectors that reached US$ 43,93 billion, while oil and gas got deficit reaching US$ 14,76 billion.

The partner countries that contributed to the biggest surplus in non-oil and gas in July 2022 were India that delivered surplus trade for Indonesia reaching US$ 1,44 billion. Then the United States of America, Philippine, Japan, and Taiwan that contributed to the surplus reaching US$ 3,84 billion in a whole. Meanwhile the countries that contribute to trade deficit the biggest were, China, Singapore, and Australia that reached US$ 2,14 billion in total.

Concerning about the condition in the globe, Minister Zulkifli thought some things that Indonesia should be aware of. “Though the trade balance got positive, we have to be aware of the tension between China and Taiwan because the two counties are the main partners for Indonesia in industrial needs,” he said.
