ANJ Commits to Minimize the Impact of Climate Change; Reduce GHG

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA As one agribusiness company, PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk (ANJ) implements sustainable palm oil practice and does protect the environment. The best agricultural practices, conservation and environment protection are very needed to avoid and mitigate the negative impacts and make the positive impacts for this planet.

To mitigate the impact of climate change, since 2012 ANJ has minimize green – house gas (GHG) by developing biogas project. The reduction of GHG per year reached 50.000 – 60.000 tons of CO2 equivalent and got net sell from biogas power plant up to 9,4 million kWh per year. In 2015, ANJ did composting program by advantaging liquid waste in the form of empty bunches and processed to be organic fertilizer.

Director of Engineering, Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) and Security ANJ Group, Mohammad Fitriyansyah said, the policy to reduce emission and get energy efficiency, which are the components of Environment Policy and Sustainability Policy in ANJ, are focused to reduce the application of non-organic fertilizer but use organic one, increase the renewable energy use, reduce the dependence of fossil energy.

“And capture methane gas from POME to be conversed to be biogas. Electrostatic precipitator (ESP) in some mills is applied to control air pollution by reducing particulate into the air,” he said, as in the press release to InfoSAWIT recently. (T2)
