PTPN Integrates Sugar Industry, SRP, and Develop Renewable Energy Industry

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The integration of PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) through Komite Percepatan Penyediaan Infrastruktur Prioritas (KPPIP) by establishing PalmCo, SugarCo, and Supporting Co has been in the list of new national strategic program with the nomenclature, Program Revitalisasi Industri Gula Nasional dan Hilirisasi Industri Kelapa Sawit.

Deputy in Spatial and Regional Development Coordinator Coordinator Ministry in Economy who is also the Chairman Team of KPPIP, Wahyu Utomo said, PTPN planned to realize the three strategic initiatives to support the national program, the first, food sector downstream program and sugar self-sufficiency; the second, smallholders’ replanting program (SRP), and the third, acceleration to renewable energy. The integrated initiatives of PTPN could be delivering big advantages for Indonesia, both from the government, the people, and the business.

Wahyu also mentioned, if PTPN does integrate, it would be contributing to gross domestic product which could be higher 1,7 times than the projection based on no integration because the economic progress per year could only be higher 0,03% in average with integration program.

As the follow up from integration proposed by PTPN Group, and as the national strategic program, KPPIP did field visit to the factory of PTPN XII in Banyuwangi.

This is the same with what the government targeted to support and escalate the numbers of palm cooking oil and sugar consumption production for the food needs in national scale. “Including to increase the smallholders and sugar farmers’ welfare by escalating their productivity, having stable price, stable stock of palm cooking oil and sugar consumption in national scale,” Wahyu said, as in the press release that InfoSAWIT got, Sunday (14/8/2022).
