He told, child labor issue in palm oil industries that the children helped their parents in palm oil plantations are claimed to be meant as social approach.
“Such statement could be a defense from palm oil plantation industries. If the children help their parents by picking up seeds or lifting up fresh fruit bunch, it means, the salary of the labors (in palm oil plantations) is not enough while the labors’ work is very difficult, hard, and should be helped by the labor’s wife or children,” the man called Mas Don, said in the discussion where InfoSAWIT attended.
Zulfi, as a researcher in PPKS Medan and post-graduate student in IPB in the end of the discussion promised to take every input from the stakeholders and practitioners in palm oil industries in North Sumatera.
He just wanted, his thesis would be as subjective as possible to deliver advantages and improvement in social – sustainability in palm oil industries in Indonesia, particularly in North Sumatera. (T5)
