InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially revoked 16 palm oil plantation permits in West Papua Province. The former areas would be advantaged by the local to plant more plantation foods.
Head of Supervision and Prevention Coordination Taskforce, Corruption Eradication Commission (CEC) in Region V, Dian Patria said, the areas would be advantaged by the people to plant food plants for nowadays crisis. She said that after conducting coordination and supervision meeting between CEC and oil and gas upstream industries in District of Sorong.
Dian also mentioned, there are some reasons to revoke the permits, such as, the operational of many companies was cutting of the trees, transport them with no permit, but do not re-plant.
“They did not pay the taxes, not report the shareholders’ substitution, no plasma system development, have no permit extension but still operate,” Dian said, as quoted from Antara, Wednesday (20/7/2022).
CEC would keep developing West Papua Province to evaluate the rests of palm oil plantation companies. The meeting result with West Papua offices is that the former areas should be handed over to the local people to be re cultivated.
“The former plantations should be planted by food plantations for the people to get food backup in the crisis,” Dian said. (T2)
