Three Parties Discussed Palm Oil Plantation Labor Issues

InfoSAWIT, MEDAN – The communication and relation among labors, unions, and palm oil plantation companies are the notice for some related parties. They were Organisasi Penguatan dan Pengembangan Usaha-Usaha Kerakyatan (OPPUK), Federasi Serikat Buruh Perkebunan Indonesia (F-SERBUNDO), and Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA).

The three discussed labor issues in palm oil plantation in a multi-stakeholder seminar within the theme “Memperkuat Serikat Buruh sebagai Mitra Strategis Perusahaan Kelapa Sawit”, Tuesday (5/7/2022).

"The dialog was running at Hotel Grand City Hall Medan on Jalan Balaikota Number 1, Kelurahan Kesawan, Sub district of Medan  Barat, City of Medan, starting from 08.30 to 12.30 p.m.," Suhib Nurido, a labor who is also one coordinator of F-SERBUNDO, said to InfoSAWIT, Monday (4/7/2022) noon.

The man called Rido also told, there were several speakers in the dialog, such as, Herwin Nasution SH, the chairman of F-SERBUNDO; Sumarjono Saragih, Chairman in Labor of IPOA; H Baharuddin Siagian SH MSi, the Head of Labor Agency North Sumatera Province; Dr Agusmidah SH MHum, the academy from Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) and also as labor observer.

"The dialog was moderated by Misran Lubis, the activist of Jaringan LSM untuk Penanggulangan Pekerja Anak (JARAK) who is also as the Vice Chairman of F-SERBUNDO," Rido said.

Herwin Nasution, he continued, discussed about "Peta Jalan Menuju Serikat Buruh Perkebunan Kelapa Sawit yang Mandiri dan Kuat". Sumarjono Saragih discussed about "Serikat Buruh dan Perusahaan Perkebunan Kelapa Sawit Sebagai Mitra Startegis", Baharuddin Siagian discussed about the government’s roles to protect the rights of labors and freedom to make union in palm oil plantations.

"Miss Agusmidah discussed about protection system about labors’ rights and freedom to get union in palm oil plantations,” Rido said. (T5)
