InfoSAWIT, KOTAPINANG – Bulk palm cooking oil in District of Labuhanbatu Selatan (Labusel) is in control. In the retailers, it is less than Rp 18.000 per kilogram (kg).

"The supply and price are good and in control. If it is packaged, it is different of course. A little bit more expensive,” Regent of Labusel, H Edimin said to InfoSAWIT, Monday (4/7/2022).

He thought, bulk palm cooking oil distribution depends on the producer. If it is produced by Musim Mas Group, he continued, it is about Rp 15.000 to Rp 16.000 per kg.

While other production could be at Rp 16.000 - Rp 17.000 per kg. But in general, the price is more expensive than it in the highest retail price (HRP) which the government regulated at Rp 15.500/kg.

"The prices I mentioned are not in distributor level but in the lowest level, the retailers, in groceries in many villages. It is normal if it is more than the HRP. It is fine if it happens to get profits, to get transportation costs, and others,” Edimin said.

He also confirmed, Trade and Industry Agency in Labusel keeps monitoring the procurement, distribution, and price up to the retailers. If the price has issue, his side is ready to conduct bulk palm cooking oil bazar. “But now it is not a routine anymore because it is in control,” he said.

He remembered when it was very expensive, District of Labusel could conduct bazar up to 30 tons per day. At the moment, the regional government allowed the sellers to purchase one to two tons of bulk palm cooking oil without determining the quota “The most important thing was the people got it in economic price. But now Alhamdulilah, we do not need bazar anymore,” he said. (T5)
