Perfect Palm Oil Governance through RAN KSB

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Rencana Aksi Nasional Kelapa Sawit Berkelanjutan (RAN KSB) was published in 2019 to get sustainable palm oil plantation in Indonesia to deliver highly advantages for the people but do not damage the environment.

The policy is the modal to improve palm oil plantation governance in Indonesia as part of the government which got mandate to make sure that the policy runs well. Musdhalifah knew that the policy needs support from every stakeholder’s commitment to improve palm oil governance from social, economic, and environmental aspects as what it is hoped.

In addition, palm oil is a very strategic commodity for the economy. The policies are important, the programs should guard to develop palm oil sustainably for nowadays interests and future generations.

Musdhalifah continued, RAN KSB can consistently be implemented by every stakeholder for it is potential to deliver partisanship in realizing sustainable development goals (SDG).

According to study result done by the institution (Institute for Sustainability and Agility), the biggest contribution from RAN KSB to SDGs implementation are social pillar that reached the biggest percentage (39,8 %), environment pillar (28,5%), economic pillar (21,4%), and governance pillar (10,4%).

“For RAN KSB is in the form of President’s Instruction Number 6 / 2019, the government and 14 ministries/institution in central, province, and regional governments in 26 provinces where palm oil grows, they got mandate to implement it,” she recently said to InfoSAWIT.

She also reminded that sustainable palm oil development is for the same interests. In this case, private and civil organization sectors are involved and needed.

Now Musdhalifah continued, the targets in RAN KSB is to encourage ministries/institutions in central level to execute every program/activity which is mandated to them. Of course, it needs support and budget allocation from National Development Plan Service or Ministry of Finance. (T2)
