InfoSAWIT, SUKA MAKMUE – Chairman of Asosiasi Petani Kelapa Sawit Indonesia (Apkasindo) District of Nagan Raya, Aceh Province, Yuslan Thamren has nothing to do to complain what he and his fellows face. They are in the crossroad both before and when palm oil industrial issues take place nationally.
“My fellows and I who join Apkasindo Nagan Raya complained what we face to the powerful man in Aceh and in Indonesia by sending official documents,” he said to InfoSAWIT, Wednesday (15/6/2022).
He was in the post office of Kota Suma Makmue, the capital of Nagan Raya when being contacted. He wrote and sent the documents to some sides that could help what the smallholders faced, such as, President Joko Widodo; Ministry of Trade; and Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo; Ombudsman RI; Aceh Police Department, Police Chief of Indonesia, Listyo Sigit Prabowo; and Aceh Legislators. Yuslan told, the official documents were on behalf of Apkasindo and Yayasan Lembaga Bantuan Hukum Advokasi (YLBH AKA) Nagan Raya as the attorney of the smallholders.
He continued, there are two main reasons why they sent the documents to the figures. First thing first, for many years, 14 mills in the district bought fresh fruit bunch (FFB) much cheaper than the price that Plantation and Agriculture Aceh Province, decided.
“The most expensive FFB that we produced is Rp 1.700 per kilogram. We have no idea what to face if the Agency decided, FFB is Rp 2.500 per kg, for instance. It would be much cheaper than the decision,” he said.
"The second, we suspected, 14 mills in Nagan Raya have not been honest (transparent) to us the smallholders, in this case, the scale. We suspected, something has gone wrong with their scales,” he said.
But he could not tell the suspicious in the scales and urged the government to check and re-check their scale in every mill in the district.
“These are the reasons why we wrote and sent the documents to Ministry of Trade because it deals with it,” he said. (T5)
